Using the weakest channel to align the antenna helps assure all channels will have good reception. If the weakest channel has good reception, the stronger ones can tolerate some modest loss and still have good reception. Fortunately, in this area all the stations are broadcast from the same location, so variations in reception due to antenna position will be relatively small.
