Water System
Water from the Arapahoe and Laramie Fox Hill Aquifers is pumped up into the treatment
plant located at the south-east corner of Falcon Hwy and Curtis Rd.

Existing Water Treatment Plant
The current water treatment system was put into place by the original developer and has
undergone a number of repairs and upgrades. The treatment plant performs the following
functions:
Disinfection/Purification - Calcium hypochlorite is added to the water to eliminate
biological contaminates and precipitate out dissolved metals (iron and manganese).
Filtration/Backwash - The water is passed through sand filters which mechanically remove
small particulates (including the precipitated iron and manganese). Filtered water is sent
out to the storage tank. Periodic backwashing of the filters is performed to clean the
filters. Backwash effluent is directed out to the detention pond.
Storage Tank - The water is stored in an above ground tank (adjacent to the treatment plant)
to provide a buffer volume for system demand changes.
Detention Pond - The filter backwash is allowed to absorb into the soil and evaporate.
System Pumps - Pumps are utilized to transfer the water from the storage tank into the
distribution system and to maintain the system pressure. Pumping is also utilized to use
water from the storage tank to backwash the filters.
Distribution System - Piping located under the subdivision roads distributes the treated
water to homes.
Water Meters - A water meter is located at the point of entry of the water line into
each home. These meters have remote transmitters that are mounted nearby.
